Online Statistics
The CollegeBowling.com database presently
includes statistics from the 2000-2001 season through the
present. You can view lists of the "Top Players", "Top
Rookies" or
"All Players" above. The lists can
be filtered by viewing "All Events" or only "Tier 1 Events". Tier 1
events include about 10 major events each season and have changed over
the period covered by these lists.
To view a player profile for a particular season, find the
athlete in an average or average differential list for the season you wish to view, and click on
the athlete's name. If the athlete bowled less than 48 games
for seasons from 2004-2005 to the present or less than 56 games for seasons 2003-2004
and earlier, you will need to select the athlete from the "All Players" average or average
differential lists.
If you would like to search for an athlete by school, select the
"Teams" link at the top of any main site pages.
Average Differential
The CollegeBowling.com average differential requires
a "field average" be calculated for comparison to an athlete's performance.
The field average is the average of the scores for all athletes in a
division (men or women) in a single event. The field average is then
subtracted from the athlete's individual average to determine the average
differential. A positive average differential means an athlete performed
better than the average athlete in an event, while a negative average
differential means an athlete underperformed when compared to the average.
In calculating an athlete's season average differential,
it is pro-rated based on the number of games the athlete bowled in each event.
October 1998 - March 2000
For the 1998-1999 and 1999-2000 seasons, the athlete averages where tracked through static html pages that are no longer
available online. The exception maybe some mid-season snapshots in the
Archive section feature "The History of CollegeBowling.com" where old
versions of the site are available.
The data for these seasons still exists but must be
converted and added to the online database.
October 1997 - March 1998
For the first season this site existed, 1997-1998, the
player averages were not tracked. The event results included only
partial individual results (e.g. top 25 or top 50 players).
